EUROCUT Canton Fair Review

The EUROCUT team returned from the Canton Fair with valuable feedback from customers in various markets. During the exhibition, we had the opportunity to reconnect with long-term partners and meet many new buyers interested in cutting tools, drilling accessories, and practical solutions.

Besides product consultations, many discussions focused on actual working conditions, product durability, and technical challenges encountered in daily use. Two topics stood out at this exhibition: the increasing interest in saw blades and discussions about SDS drill bit breakage.

More Buyers Show Interest in Saw Blades

TCT saw blades displayed by EUROCUT

A significant change at this year's exhibition was the increased number of inquiries about saw blades.

We received more inquiries about different types of saw blades, particularly carbide-tipped (TCT) saw blades and wood-cutting saw blades. Customers were interested in blade specifications, tooth design, cutting efficiency, service life, and compatibility with different materials.

These discussions reflect buyers' emphasis on consistent cutting performance and product reliability. Many customers are not only concerned about price but also want to understand how different saw blade specifications affect actual cutting results.

This feedback also helped us better understand market demand and the types of saw blades customers are looking for in their respective markets.

Understanding SDS Drill Bit Fracture

SDS drill bit fracture was another important topic discussed with customers during the exhibition.

SDS-Plus and SDS-Max hammer drill bits are designed to withstand repeated impact loads when drilling into concrete, masonry, and other hard materials. However, under certain operating conditions, drill bits may crack or fail prematurely.

Key Technical Factors:

01
Long-Term Use and Fatigue

SDS drill bits are subjected to repeated impact and torsional loads during operation. Over time, accumulated fatigue damage can lead to cracking, especially in areas subjected to repeated mechanical stress.

02
Heat Accumulation During Continuous Drilling

Friction between the drill bit and drilling debris, combined with repeated impacts, generates heat. Continuous operation, insufficient cooling, or excessive pressure can exacerbate heat accumulation. Depending on the material and heat treatment conditions, excessively high temperatures can affect hardness and mechanical properties, increasing the risk of premature failure.

03
Stress Concentration in Structural Transition Zones

SDS drill bits contain multiple structural transition zones, including the helical flute section, the shank transition zone, and the carbide tip connection. Changes in cross-sectional geometry can cause localized stress concentrations. Under repeated impact and torsional loads, these areas can become potential crack initiation points.

Different Fracture Types Require Different Analyses

It is also important to distinguish between different types of failure:

Drill Body Fracture Cracks or fractures in the steel body may be related to repeated impacts, fatigue, or excessive torsional loads.
Carbide Tip Detachment Detachment due to issues with the brazed joint, thermal stress, or excessive impact.
Cracking Around Brazed Joint Affected by joint quality, residual stress, and repeated thermal/mechanical loads.

These failure types should not be attributed to the same cause. A proper investigation requires examining the fracture location, fracture surface, material properties, heat treatment, brazing quality, and actual drilling conditions.

"For manufacturers, this feedback is invaluable when reviewing product design, material selection, heat treatment, and manufacturing processes."

The Canton Fair is not just an opportunity to showcase our products but also a chance to listen to our customers, understand their practical application needs, and exchange technical knowledge.

At EUROCUT, we remain focused on the quality and reliability of our drill bits, saw blades, and other power tool accessories. We appreciate every customer who visited our booth and shared their experiences with our team.

We look forward to building stronger connections and creating more opportunities together in the future.
